Are you looking for solitude and an artistic refuge? Do you want to nurture your creativity? If so, the Hudson Valley Story Cottage is the perfect place for you.
The Story Cottage sits on 16 enchanting wooded acres, surrounded by wetlands, in a small Hudson Valley college town at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains.
We offer poets, writers, playwrights, and creatives an idyllic and serene setting where you will have the solitude and focus to nurture your creativity and find inspiration.

REGISTRATION:
The price of your retreat will depend on your length of stay. We offer:
- 7-day retreat: $950 + $200 refundable security deposit.
- 14-day retreat: $1800 + $350 refundable security deposit.
- 20% Security deposit is required.
- Registration in on a first come, first serve basis.
- All personal retreatants must be 21 years or older.
- Writers must submit either 3 poems or 4 pages of prose when applying for a writing retreat. Email to: thehudsonvalleystorycottage@gmail.com
- The Story Cottage is a smoke-free, fragrance-free, pet-free, candle-free, child-free cottage.

Car: Our Story Cottage is just 5 minutes from the New York State Thruway, Exit 18, New Paltz. Approximately 90 miles from New York City and 70 miles from Albany.
Bus: The New Paltz Bus Depot, 139 Main St, New Paltz NY is served by Trailways from the New York City Port Authority and Albany Bus Station, 34 Hamilton St, Albany, NY.
Train: The Story Cottage is conveniently located 20 minutes from the Poughkeepsie Train Station, serving Amtrak/Metro-North, 41 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY
Upon arrival you can get a local Taxi, Uber or Lyft.

- 14 days advance notice: 100% full refund.
- 7 days advance notice: 50% partial refund
- Less than 7 days cancellation notice, no refund.

Meals are not provided. You must bring your own food. Basic condiments are provided such as: oil, salt, pepper, seasonings, sugar, coffee, and tea.

- Self check-in with lockbox
- No parties or events
- No smoking

On departure wash any dishes and cookware, leave the Cottage neat; Please let us know you’re on your way out via text. Thank you!
